Courses we offer

Our courses are designed to be engaging, creative and challenging. Cloudberry Medical is an approved provider of ITC first aid courses that are OfQual and SQA approved. This means we deliver a range of environment or sector specific, well resourced, tailored courses that are rigorously monitored. We are also a member of the Association of First Aiders.

You can read about the type of courses we offer below. We can also work with you to create tailored programmes or provide skills refresher training of various kinds. Group and in-house training can be arranged. If you are interested in something arranged on an individual or group basis please get in touch through our contact page.

All our course fees include registration and certification, specific training manuals for your course and use of first aid or other equipment.

"I have done first aid courses in the past but this exceeded all expectations. The experience of working outside was amazing in bringing first aid to life for me" (Outdoor Course Participant 2012)

First Aid at Work

Why would I want to do this course?
If your work place risk assessment suggests further first aid training is required because of the size of your workforce, the nature of your sector or a possible time delay in help arriving on scene this 18 hour course may be appropriate. This course will help meet your statutory obligations and provides additional training to that covered on the Emergency First Aid at Work course.

An additional short module (of around 2-3 hours) in the use of external automated defibrillators (AEDs) can be added offering a dual qualification of First Aid at Work and AED use.

What would I do on this course?
Around 70% of the 18 hour course will be spent in interactive, practical activity. It will be delivered by qualified teachers and trainers who also have practical first aid experience in a variety of settings.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

• Assess the situation so you can act safely and effectively in an emergency
• Take, record and monitor vital signs
• Deal with the unconscious person
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and deal with someone who is choking
• Administer first aid to someone who is wounded, bleeding and suffering from shock
• Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries
• Deal with a range of injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including the spine and chest
• Treat burns, scalds, eye injuries and sudden poisoning
• Recognise a range of medical emergencies including heart attack and stroke
• Record and report incidents
• Appreciate how to prevent cross infection
• Use available equipment

The course is continually assessed and also involves externally examined practical scenarios.

What's included in the price?
Included in the price is the use of recommended first aid materials, an easy to follow individual course booklet and one CPR training manikin per 2 participants. You will also receive an accredited, recognised certificate valid for 3 years.

I have a group needing training can you meet their  needs?
The content of the FAW is fixed but the context in which it may be used can be brought into the training. If you require a more specific course please contact us or have a look at our other courses. We can also deliver courses at weekends, during evenings or night shifts.

How do I know this meet  my statutory requirements?
Employers have to risk assess their workplace first aid requirements. The 18 hour First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification is one of the qualifications for this purpose. All candidates must attend the full 18-hours contact time in order to fulfill the qualification 'license to practice' requirement. As well as a need for full attendance each candidate is continually assessed on each section of the programme.

How do I keep my qualification valid?
You can maintain your qualification by taking a 12 hour refresher course as long as it is within 3 years and 28 days of you previous course end date. Additionally the Health and Safety Executive 'highly recommend' that first aiders undergo an annual 3-hour refresher course.
